Price hike, minimum wage: PLP to join sit-in of trade unions on May 24

Pakistan Labour Party will joint activists of 20 top trade unions of the country to stage a sit-in on Chairing Cross in Lahore on May 24 against the rising inflation and for enhancing minim wage. The PLP has demanded that minimum labour wages in the country should be increased from Rs7000 to Rs15,000 as prices of commodities have increased by 200 per cent during last one year.
Spokesman PLP Farooq Tariq while talking to Business Recorder here Sunday said that they had formed a 20-member committee for the sit-in and. He said the rising inflation has severely impacted middle and lower middle class in the country. He said rulers who have their assets outside Pakistan were pursuing politics of self-interest in the country. He said their interests are opposite to the needs of the people of this country.
