'LGH has become one of the leading institutions of the region'

Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has become one of the leading institutions of the region as an average of 3500 patients come here daily for treatment. The Services of the hospital will be expanded further with the establishment of Punjab Institute of Neurosciences, a 500-bed project, very soon.
This was expressed by Prof Dr Tariq Salahuddin, the Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and Lahore General Hospital while briefing the participants of 94th National Management Course being continued at National School of Public Policy, National Management College Lahore who visited the hospital as part of the curriculum of the course.
During briefing, Prof Dr Khalid Bashir, Prof Rubina Suhail and Dr Zaffar Ikram, MS LGH among other were also present.
Dr Tariq Salahuddin informed the delegation that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is determined to convert LGH into a center of excellence. He has approved the project of a new medical college to be attached with LGH where MBBS classes are going to start next year. He said that PGMI, presently attached with LGH would be a degree awarding institution very soon as recommendation in this regard have already been moved to concerned authorities. He said that PGMI also offers specialisation facility to the foreign students in addition to locals ones.
Dr Tariq Salahuddin further informed that a laser machine of latest technology, the only one in Pakistan so far, has been installed in Urology Department for the treatment of Kidney patients. Moreover, a modern monitoring system has been introduced to keep the record of disease history as well as necessary data about the patient. He said that LGH has the largest Air-conditioned Dialysis center where modern machines are functional 24 hours to serve the ailing humanity. To a question, Dr Tariq Salahuddin said that keeping in view the security situation in the country special fool proof arrangements have been ensured for the safety of the visitors. Participants of National Management Course expressed satisfaction over the management, discipline, hygienic condition and provision of medical facilities at LGH. They applauded the services of Dr Tariq Salahuddin and said that the government hospital throughout the province should follow the role model of LGH.
