Joint session of parliament was just a talk show: Munawar

16 May, 2011

Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hasan has said that if the armed forces failed to protect the ideological and geographical boundaries of the country, the masses would be compelled to take up arms against US terrorism. He was addressing a huge rally at Multan Road.
Munawar Hasan said that the joint session of the parliament brief by the military leadership was just a talk show, which disappointed the nation. The main concerns of the nation were freedom from US slavery, pulling out of the US war on terror and stopping the drone attacks, he added.
He said the Abbotabad tragedy happened only due to rulers' slavery to US. Munawar said that for the last 64 years, Pakistan was being ruled by the people who were protecting the US interests against national interests.
The US, he said, attacked our independence and solidarity but the forces which were on duty to defend national boundaries, were justifying the US operation, while the rulers had assured Washington of their complete obedience by greeting US on 'a grand victory."
The JI chief said that the nation had tried the PPP, ANP and MQM alliances many times but their problems had been multiplying. Now it is the time the nation should give an opportunity to Jamaat-e-Islami, adding that JI not only knew how to protect the country's independence and sovereignty but was also in a position to solve the peoples' problems.
He aid that the Muslims were the target of US worst terrorism. Against that, the Muslims wanted to introduce a justice-based system. The Muslims forces were the main hurdles in the fulfilment of the US agenda. He was confident that the US and its allies would never succeed.
Later, talking to media men, the JI chief said that the rulers brought up by the US could not implement the unanimous resolution adopted by the in-camera session of the parliament. He said a similar resolution had been adopted in October 2008 but that had not been enforced till today. He said, as long as the people begging from US were in power in the country, the country's independence and existence would be in danger. These rulers were the US pawns and the masses would have to rise against them. He said that the talk of an independent enquiry commission was meaningless as long as the US interference did not end.
