Dacoit among three killed

At least three persons including a dacoit were killed in a robbery bid in the limits of Pak Colony police station on Tuesday. According to police, four dacoits, who entered in Bismillah Marble Shop near Ghattar Baghicha and tried to rob the shop, killed a 40-year-old shop owner Akhter Muhammad during resistance.
They escaped from the scene towards Old Golimar where they again tried to snatch a bike from a youngster Mohsin and also killed him over resistance. A police van reached on the spot and after a brief exchange of gunshots, they killed one of the dacoits. They said that the dacoit was 25-year-old while a police constable Nawaz and a police mobile driver Mohammad Faiz also sustained bullet wounds in brief encounter. Police said the dead and injured were later shifted to Civil and Abbasi Shaheed hospital for medico legal formalities and treatment.
They said the deceased Akhter was the resident of Mohajir camp, Baldia while Mohsin was living at Raxer Line. After the incident, the inhabitants of the area took to the road and staged protest demonstration against lawlessness. They said that the law enforcement agencies have failed to provide security to the shop owners and residents of the area. The angry mob had also torched a police mobile van and a motorcycle-rickshaw to express resentment against this incident. Later, heavy contingents of police and rangers rushed to the spot and dispersed the enraged protesters. Police said the van was partially damaged and now the situation was brought in control. No case was registered till filing of this report.
