Dual-office case: PPP Punjab passes resolution against LHC verdict

19 May, 2011

Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) Punjab passed a resolution against the Lahore High Court (LHC) decision in dual office case on Wednesday. PPP Punjab chapter President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich presided over the meeting held at the PPP Punjab office. Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz, Sami Ullah Khan, Iqbal Sialwi and provincial leadership attended the meeting. Party organisational matters were also taken up during the meeting.
The meeting termed the LHC verdict as a conspiracy against the PPP and President Asif Ali Zardari. They vowed to counter all such conspiracies, as the PPP had faced such situations in the past as well. The meeting decided to hold divisional level rallies and seminars on Bhutto reference next week.
Sources said the meeting not only expressed solidarity with PPP co-chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari by passing a resolution in favour of his political activities but also devise a plan for the "Zardari Khapey" rallies throughout the province.
The meeting also criticised Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) over its policy of victimising federal government, intelligence agencies and Pak Army. The party said the statements of PML-N leaders were against national interest and added that PML-N leaders were busy in political point scoring, which was regrettable.
