WWF-P organises ceremony

World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-P) has on Wednesday held Syed Asad Ali Conservation Award and Living Planet Awards ceremony. Dr Saeed Elahi, provincial parliamentarian and convenor of the Sectoral Committee for Environment for PML-N, and Syed Babar Ali, a philanthropist and industrialist, were the chief guests.
This year, Syed Yahya Shah from Gilgit Baltistan won the Syed Asad Ali Award for Nature Conservation for promoting sustainable utilisation of natural resources in his area of influence. The Living Planet Award was won by Ali Ijaz, an NCA graduate, for producing a documentary 'Missing vultures' that drew the people's attention to the plight of this important species.
Other recipients of the award are Dr Khalil and Ms Nilofar from Department of Biological Sciences, Karakoram International University, for their project titled 'Capacity enhancement in nature conservation of academic institutions on snow leopard distribution in Gilgit Baltistan'.
