Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 104,450 tonnes of cargo including 64,138 tonnes of import cargo, 40,312 tonnes of export cargo and 2,540 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 64,138 tonnes comprised of 14,622 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,866 tonnes of bulk cargo: 13,382 tonnes of coal; 2,484 tonnes of rock phosphate and 33,650 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 40,312 tonnes comprised of 11,070 tonnes of containerised cargo; 758 tonnes of general cargo; 13,684 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,914 tonnes of cement; 9,770 tonnes of wheat and 14,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Five ships namely Valdivia, APL Cyprine, Wan Hai-602, Bux Melody and Sea Sky carrying four container ships and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Four vessels viz Bux Melody, Manila Express, Northern Valour and Christina carrying three container ships and cement carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
Two container ships namely Manila Express and Northern Valour expected to sail on Thursday, while two ships namely Oriental Emerald and Kota Arif with naphtha and container ship are expected to sail on Friday. Four vessels viz Hanjin Berlin, Konstantina, Kota Arif and Hyundai Independence carrying four container ships due to arrive on Thursday, while nine vessels viz Falda, Quetta, APL Chicago, CSL Ride, Ocean Olympic, Sapphire-II, An Xin Jiang, Abba and Al-Khaliq carrying jet oil tanker, crude oil tanker, two container ships, coal carrier, cement carrier, general cargo ship, steel coils and wheat carrier respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

The total export cargo of 29,358 tonnes includes 5,096 tonnes of rice; 9,027 tonnes of wheat; 5,119 tonnes of cement and 10,116 tonnes of containerised cargo. Three ships namely CV CMA CGM Puccni, CV ACX Rafflesia and MV Hunter-K sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV CMA CGM Puccni, CV ACX Rafflesia, MV Liberty Spirit, MV Hunter-K, MV Al-Aska, MT Ocean Concord and MT DL Ace are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, rice, cement, chemicals and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours. Three ships namely Atlantic Trader, Al-Soor-II and MT Karachi carrying containers, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage.
A total number of four container vessels viz CV Atlantic Trader, CV CSAV Appennini, CV Dubai Express and CV MSC Sierra-II are expected to take berths at Container Terminal on Thursday. A container ship namely CV Glory is due to arrive on Friday. A total number of five vessels viz CV MSC Aurelie, CV MSC Magali, MV Ocean Star, MV Narghade and MV Bussara Narree carrying two container ships and three wheat carriers are also expected to arrive at Port Qasim.
