6,000 megawatts power shortfall for third consecutive day

Power shortfall kept on lurking around 6000MW for third consecutive day, leading to 10 - 12 hours load shedding in urban and 20 hours load shedding in rural areas. High temperature is adding fuel to the fire separately, prompting the consumers to come out on streets and protest against the Wapda and Pepco administrations. A group of youngsters also ransacked the Wapda office in a local residential area besides beating the Wapda employees.
The misery of general public can be judged from the fact that many infectious diseases like gastro have started affecting people in different areas. The consumers are forced to face loadshedding in different cities and the number of people affected by gastro infection is increasing day by day. Doctors have advised people to take precautions measures before leaving the houses and roadside drinks should be avoided in order to prevent infections in a better way. Power generation stood at 12349MW against and a demand of 18138MW, leaving the system with a shortfall of 5789MW during last 24 hours. Hydel, thermal, IPPs and RPPs generation remained 5008MW, 1546MW, 5743MW and 97MW, respectively.
