Projects of Halal products: PIEDMC, Malaysia sign MoU

Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) and Government of Malaysia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up projects of Halal products in Pakistan.According to the PIE spokesman, The MoU would help promote business ties between the two sides, which in turn would help enhance exports from Pakistan.
PIEDMC Chairman S. M. Tanveer and Malaysian State Minister and Chairman Penang International Halal Hub, Haji Abdul Malik inked the MoU. The Punjab Industrial Estate has allocated 100 acres of land in the upcoming Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate for production of Halal products. Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate would be, having infrastructure compliance with the international standard.
Speaking on the occasion, Malaysian State Minister and Chairman Penang International Halal Hub, Haji Abdul Malik Kassim said that worth of international Halal products trade was more than three trillion dollars per annum. He said that Pakistan has a lot of potential to get its due share in the Halal products trade, for being fifth biggest producer of milk and live stock in the world. He urged the Pakistani businessmen to come forward and avail the opportunities. Chairman PIEDMC S.M. Tanveer said that the potential of Pakistani dairy and livestock sectors was not being tapped due to several reasons. He said that more attention towards these sectors could do miracle for the national economy.
