Police arrest accused involved in targeted killings

Sindh police on Friday said it arrested a notorious criminal and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession. According to SSP Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, a CID team on a tip-off conducted raid in Rabia City near Johar roundabout and arrested Wasi Iqbal alias Chota, son of Zahid Iqbal and recovered a grenade, a Kalashnikov, 13 packets of Hashish and several rounds from his possession.
He said the accused, who belonged to Mudassir chief group, was involved in several heinous crimes including targeted killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, land grabbing and attempt to murder. He said this accused, who was son of a cardiologist, joined underworld to take revenge of his mother's killing.
Fayyaz further said the accused, who was involved in over 30 targeted killings, confessed during investigation that he on the directives of Muddasir alias chief and Sheraz alias Bakri killed several political workers. He said that police was conducting raids to nab other members of the group.
