The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has received positive response from many employees on strike who individually contacted the management to express their support and solidarity with the cause of normalising all outstanding complaints and faults. Tabish Gauhar, CEO of KESC, had issued a call on Wednesday to the inactive employees to return to their duties and serve the customers.
The employees who came back to work in response to CEO's call during the past couple of days mainly include the field staff and technicians whose work is vital to the rectification of local faults. They have expressed full commitment to the public service role of the utility and joined their colleagues in clearing the backlog of public complaints and local faults.
These employees have been working for extensive hours to rectify as much local faults as possible against the continuing threats from CBA Union. In their messages to the top management, the returning employees have opposed the CBA Union's negative line of action, which has put the common citizens into misery and disturbed the City life.
They expressed the view that strike had to be observed by employees on voluntary basis and not through subversive acts and life threats, as the CBA Union is practising. The KESC has appreciated the fact that these employees have finally realised the importance of their professional responsibilities towards the life of the general public and resumed their work.
In the meanwhile, the striking CBA Union continued its attacks and sabotage of KESC's functioning and fault repair work. In North Nazimabad late last night, a group of armed miscreants opened direct fire on the main gate of Abu Zar maintenance centre. Fortunately, none of the employees present in the office was at the main gate at that time. Therefore, nobody was hurt in the incident.-PR
