A westerly weather system affecting upper parts of the country caused rain and hailstorm on Saturday, which turned the weather pleasant in upper parts of the country.
According to an official of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), hailstorm was recorded in Rawalpindi and Rawalakot, while Islamabad and some upper parts of the country received rain that not only subsided the prevailing heat but also decreased temperature by 4-5 degrees centigrade.
However, the westerly weather system affecting upper parts of the country is likely to persist during next 24-36 hours and cause duststorm or dust raising winds at isolated places in north-eastern and central parts of Punjab at Saturday night.
Isolated rain along with strong wind is also expected in upper Hazara, Malakand and Gujranwala divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baaltistan during next 24 hours However, the weather will remain hot in southern and central parts of the country, while Makran Division will be under grip of severe heat wave conditions during next few days. Maximum temperature recorded on Saturday was Islamabad 35 C, Turbat 47 C, Sibi 48 C, Dadu 48 C, Multan 41 C, Peshawar 40 C and D G Khan 39. The highest maximum temperature was recorded 49 C in Lasbela.
