Rouble falls versus dollar

22 May, 2011

The rouble fell slightly versus the dollar on Friday after a positive morning start, as oil prices fell and the euro weakened against the greenback ahead of the weekend. The rouble lost 2 kopecks to 28.02, still hovering some 77 kopecks off its strongest level since late 2008 - achieved earlier in May.
"The rouble fell against the dollar by the end of the day together with oil prices and the weakening of the euro in the euro-dollar cross," Trust bank analyst Roman Dzugaev told Reuters. Brent crude lost nearly $2 to $110 per barrel, pulling Russia's benchmark RTS index down 0.5 percent on the day.
