ISLAMABAD: A three-day anti-polio campaign begins in seventeen districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and twenty districts of Balochistan today (Monday).
The districts where the campaign is starting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA include Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, Malakand, Chitral, Dir Lower, Dir Upper and Afghan Refugees Camps, Radio Pakistan reported.
During the campaign, five million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops.
Eighteen thousand teams have been constituted to visit door-to-door to ensure administering anti-polio drops to the children.
Polio teams will also be available at railway stations, bus stands and public places to ensure administering anti-polio drops to every child.
In Balochistan, more then one point seven million children below the age of five years will be administered polio drops during the drive. Over six thousand seven hundred teams have been constituted.
The districts include Quetta, Barkhan, Jhal Magsi, Killa Abdullah, Loralai, Musa Khel, Sherani, Zhob, Dera Bugti, Duki, Mastung, Chaghi, Noshki, Sohbat Pur, Khuzdar, Pishin, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Killa Saifullah and Lasbella.
Tight security measures have been taken to ensure security of polio teams.
