'Aashiyana Housing Scheme is for the poor'

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Aashiyana Housing Scheme is for the poor, labourers, widows and the families of martyrs and Pakistan Muslim League has had the honour in the 63 years' history of the country of realising the dream of the common man to have his own house.
He said that it was incomprehensible why some elements were criticising the project for the poor. He said that in fact those persons had done nothing for the poor and workers during their tenure and had instead looted national resources in the name of development projects.
He was talking to media during his visit to Bhatta Chowk, here on Sunday. Member Provincial Assembly Mian Naseer Ahmad, Commissioner Lahore Nadeem Hassan Asif, Director General Parks & Horticulture Authority Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, District Co-ordination Officer Lahore Ahad Cheema and Brigadier Shahid Majeed of National Logistic Cell were also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister said that the project was initiated due to heavy load of traffic at Bhatta Chowk and people were facing serious problems. He said that construction work was completed in a record period of time.
He congratulated Member National Assembly, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Members Provincial Assembly Yaseen Sohal, Mian Naseer Ahmad, Commissioner and DCO Lahore, Sector Incharge National Logistic Cell Brigadier Shahid Majeed and his team on the high standard of construction work and timely completion of the project. He said that the project would soon be inaugurated formally. He said that in accordance with the policy of Punjab government, maximum plantation would be carried out for the beautification of the project and instructions had been issued to DG PHA in that regard. Earlier, Commissioner Lahore Nadeem Hassan Asif gave a detailed briefing regarding Bhatta Chowk extension project.
