Lawyers protest against killing of two advocates in Karachi

The legal fraternity throughout the country on Monday observed protest boycott against killing of two advocates in Karachi on Saturday last on the call of Pakistan Bar Council, Punjab Bar Council and the Lahore High Court Bar Association.
The lawyers at the lower and the upper level made thin appearance in the court mostly to obtain adjournments, which were granted accordingly. Reports received here from other stations also tell that lawyers observed courts boycott and held protest meetings at some places to condemn killing of the lawyers in Karachi.
President Lahore High Court Bar Association Asghir Ali Gill has said that law and order situation in the country was alarming and it appeared the government had totally failed to arrest the situation. He said in Karachi people were being targeted in order to create chaos and unrest in the country. He said the state functionaries needed to improve their efficiency to check killing and crime in the country. The Bar president demanded of the authorities to review their law and order strategy to make it foolproof against nefarious and ghastly acts of the criminals. He also called for the arrest of the killers of the two lawyers in Karachi and awarding them exemplary punishment under the law. He expressed a complete solidarity with the Karachi lawyers on his and behalf of his Bar.
