'Pepco infrastructure suffered colossal loss due to windstorm'

The recent windstorm and thunderstorm and heavy rain has caused severe damage to the electricity infrastructure in Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Multan division. The Federal Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar and Managing Director Pepco Rasul Khan Mahsud has instructed Mepco administration to restore the devastated electricity infrastructure on war footings suffered due to windstorm for smooth supply of electricity to the worthy consumers.
Reportedly, the storm had the velocity of over 150 kilometers per hour and continued with various intervals on Saturday night and badly damaged Pepco infrastructure, hence affected the supply of electricity in various parts of Mepco (Multan, Sahiwal and Bahawalpur division).
Pepco spokesman has informed that the windstorm has played havoc with Mepco infrastructure and damaged 18 transformers in the area of Multan Cantt and city, along with 100 electric poles. 8 Transformers along with 30 Electric Poles fell at the different parts of the Sahiwal, whereas, 53 Electric Pylons (LT/HT) fell in the areas of Makhdoom Rasheed District Multan and around 14 Electric Poles along with 7 Transformers were damaged in Dera Din Pannah, District Kot Addu.
