Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 291,338 tonnes of cargo including 213,474 tonnes of import cargo, 77,864 tonnes of export cargo and 3,346 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 213,474 tonnes comprised of 48,475 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,261 tonnes of general cargo; 41,146 tonnes of bulk cargo: 32,687 tonnes of coal; 8,459 tonnes of rock phosphate and 115,592 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 77,864 tonnes comprised of 56,091 tonnes of containerised cargo; 124 tonnes of general cargo; 20,028 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,558 tonnes of cement and 18,470 tonnes of wheat. Ten ships namely Chemroad Dita, Green Line, Hyundai Independence, Island Express, CSL Ride, APL Chicago, Lavender, Al-Mirqab, TS Qingdao and Falda carrying ethanol, cement carrier, container ship, cement carrier, five container ships and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Nine vessels viz Lavender, TS Qingdao, Al-Mirqab, APL Zircon, Cape Manuel, Daffodil, SCF Alpine, Bussara Naree and Quetta carrying six container ships, oil tanker, steel coils and oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. Two ships namely Bussara Naree and Cape Manuel carrying two container ships respectively expected to sail on Monday, while three ships namely Daffodil, Ocean Olympic and An Xin Jiang with container ship, coal carrier and general cargo are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Four vessels viz Vira Bhum, Hanjin Durban, Patriot and Leopard-B carrying two container ships, vehicles and rock phosphate respectively due to arrive on Monday, while ten vessels viz Oriental Chemi, Liquid Platinum, Bunga Aster, YM Europe, Wan Hai-605, Bravo, President Folk, Kota Anggerik, Endurance and UBC Cyprus carrying two ethanol carriers, RBD palm oil, five container ships, vehicles and cement carrier respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
A container ship namely CV Maersk Georgia sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another oil tanker MT Al-Soor-II is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of five vessels viz CV Liberty Spirit, CV Maersk Georgia, MV Al-Aska, MV Sapphire-II and MT Al-Soor-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, rice, cement and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Three ships namely Iron Monger-5, Nahide-M and Chang Qiang carrying furnace oil, wheat and rice respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz CV MSC Magali, MT Iron Monger-5 and MT Argent Freesia carrying containers, furnace oil and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday. Two ships namely CV Angeles and Mal Pensa carrying container and edible oil are due to arrive on Monday. A total number of six vessels viz CV UASC Damam, CV Nedlloyd Mercator, CV Natalia, MT Gul Coral, MV Bussara Narree and MT Ginga Craccal are expected to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday.
