A PROFILE: Lahore Stock Exchange is the technologically advanced Stock Exchange of Pakistan situated in the largest populous Punjab province which caters to the needs of entrepreneurs for raising capital and provides investment opportunities to the investing public. LSE is fully committed to provide transparent, efficient, economic, well equipped and investor friendly environment for the promotion of capital market in Pakistan.
LSE has always stood at the fore-front of market innovation in Capital Market of Pakistan Starting from the introduction of automated trading in 1996 to providing recently introduced Securities Lending & Borrowing Software to the NCCPL. LSE's trading platform was subsequently sold to Karachi, Islamabad and Ghana Stock Exchanges also. Today LSE offers trading in 496 Stocks & Mutual Funds, 13 Bonds & TFCs, and 14 Deliverable & 27 Cash-Settled Futures Contracts through its indigenously developed ULTRA Trade Software. A number of significant initiatives have been taken to improve the regulatory regime and the trading environment for the benefit of Institutional Investors as well as listed companies. LSE has successfully met various challenges and has now emerged, fully geared and positioned to aggressively compete with its fellow Exchanges, contributing towards the growth of Capital Markets in Pakistan.
INITIATIVES OF LSE For the investors we have introduced a fair & transparent system of arbitration & dispute resolution; to further strengthen this process, the Chief Regulatory Officer has been made independent. To increase investor education training courses & seminar are being conducted and going forward the frequency & scope will be enhanced. To increase interaction between the companies & investors, LSE has launched Investor Relations services; Corporate Briefings Program (CBP) is a step in this direction in which company representatives are being invited to share their future plans with the investors; Corporate Compliance monitoring has also been made more vigilant & proactive.
To increase trading new products will be introduced including Stock Index Futures, Options, Exchange Traded Funds, REITs and Currencies & Commodities trading. The launching of these products will diverse our product line and investment opportunities available to investors.
To increase listings, LSE will be proactively approaching companies through Chambers and conduct awareness roadshows to highlight benefits of listings. We are constantly in liaison with the regulators to encourage listings by giving tangible benefits such as reduced tax rates etc.
