Supreme Court to resume hearing of high profile cases next week

The Supreme Court will resume hearing from next week on various high- profile cases including Bank of Punjab case and a suo motto case regarding Rs 256 billion written-off loans by various banks from 1971 to 2009. The Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has constituted five benches of the Supreme Court (SC) for the next week to start hearing plethora of cases from May 30 (Monday).
The cause list issued by the fixture department of the Supreme Court for next week says that the bench number one comprises Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Muahammad Sair Ali and Justice Ghulam Rabbani. The other benches include; Justice Mlan Shahirullah Jan, Justice Mahmood Akhtar Shahid Siddiqui and Justice Mian Saqib Nisar (Bench-II), Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Justice khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Amir Hani Muslim (Bench-III), Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa (Bench-V), Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Tariq Parvez.
It has been directed no application would be placed before the court for adjournment through fax adding that if the counsel is unable to appear the Advocate-on-Record (AOR) will be required to argue the case. "No Adjournment on any ground will be granted." The CJP declared categorically.
