Punjab food department procures over 2.9 million tons of wheat

Punjab Food Department has so far procured over 2.9 million tons of wheat against the target of 3.5 million tons, while Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (Passco) procured 898,944 metric tons of wheat against a target of 1.3 million tons.
According to Punjab Food Department sources, the department procured 2,979,038 metric tons of wheat till Saturday evening. It procured 48,880 metric tons; 91MTs from Rawalpindi region, 3,489 metric tons from Gujranwala, 4,698MTs from Lahore, 6,513MTs from Faisalabad, 6,583MTs from Sargodha, 9,893MTs from Multan, 5,228MTs from Sahiwal, 6,901MTs from Dera Ghazi Khan and 6,485MTs from Bahawalpur region.
They said that the department has, till date, distributed gunny bags for slightly over 3.1 million tons of wheat. Similarly, according to Passco sources, they have so far procured 898,944 metric tons of wheat and distributed gunny bags for 1,043,916 metric tons of the commodity from its procurement centres. It procured over 857,371 metric tons of wheat from Punjab, over 17,742MTs from Sindh and over 3,304MTs from Balochistan.
