Cleanliness campaign in Murree to begin from May 30

Punjab Environment Department has decided to launch a cleanliness campaign in Murree from May 30 to June 4 to clean roads, streets and drains. The campaign will be launched in collaboration with the district government of Rawalpindi. This was decided in a meeting that was held under the chairmanship of provincial Secretary Environment Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, disclosed an official, here on Saturday.
The meeting observed that roads and streets and drains have been choked due to the dumping of solid waste and thus need cleanliness. Punjab Environment Department has decided to support TMA Murree for cleanliness of the tehsil before the commencement of next summer vacations. It also decided to install dustbins at Mall Road and other public places of the tehsil, initiate solid-waste management plan for areas around the hotels and other public places and begin tree plantation.
