JIT formed to investigate Mehran airbase attack

The Sindh government has formed a Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) on the directives of the Federal Government to investigate the attack on Pakistan Navy Airbase at Sharae-Faisal by terrorists here on May 22. "An eight-member team has been formed comprising officials of police, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), and Intelligence Bureau (IB)," said IGP Sindh Fayyaz Leghari.
Talking to APP, he said that the investigation was underway and efforts were being made to complete the probe and arrest the perpetrators of the terrorist activity at the base.
At least 10 personnel of Pakistan Navy and Rangers were killed, 15 injured and 4 terrorists were killed in clashes followed by the attack on the base. Two surveillance planes of Navy were also destroyed by the terrorists. Meanwhile, Advisor to Home Department Sharfuddin Memon told APP that the investigation team has been formed on the directives of the Federal Government to expedite the probe adding that the Home Department will issue a notification in this regard on Monday (today).
