28.5 percent rise in futures open interest

The open interest position increased by 28.5 percent during the week ended on May 27, 2011 to Rs 1.39 billion. The futures spreads, however, declined by 90bps to 0.29 percent, primarily due to the upbeat investor behaviour observed at the ready market counter.
Trading at the futures counter improved significantly and the average daily volume surged by 284 percent to 3.7 million shares.
The top 5 scrips at the futures counter, constituting 63 percent of the total open interest, were Engro, DGKC, POL, MCB and NBP.
