28 suspects arrested

Islamabad Police arrested 28 persons including 22 suspects and recovered wine, drugs and illegal weapons from their possession, said Naeem Iqbal, spokesman of Islamabad Police here on Tuesday. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan had directed all circles in charges to speed up crackdown against the suspects, after which special teams were constituted and 22 suspects were held within the jurisdictions of different police stations, he said.
Margallah, Shalimar, Sabzi Mandi, Sihala Police conducted search operation in their respective jurisdictions during which slums, under construction plazas and buildings, parking lots and residential areas were frisked. Police nabbed 22 suspects during the crackdown who have failed to produce any documents or identification papers.
All the suspects were taken to different places for further investigation, the spokesman said. He said that during routine anti-crime activities Secretariat Police arrested an accused Aurangzeb for having seven bottles of liquor while Bhara Kahu Police nabbed Ali Imran and Rahim for having three wine bottles and 30 bore pistol, respectively. Industrial Area Police arrested an accused Qasim for having 105 gram hashish while Sihala Police apprehended Farooq for having 30 bore pistol and seven rounds. Sub-Inspector Muhammad Shafique recovered a tampered car (ICT, LW-114) from Aqeel Shehzad.
SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has further directed all police officials to expand search operations and conduct thorough checking in their areas. He said that guest houses, hotels and inns should also be checked and complete bio data of the guests staying there should be obtained.
