Punjab and Iran to enhance bilateral cooperation

Government of Punjab and Iranian province of Khorasan-e-Razavi have agreed to enhance bilateral co-operation in the sectors of agriculture, livestock, mines, energy, transportation and construction. In this regard, Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) hosted a high level meeting of Punjab-Khorasan joint working group, here Tuesday.
The five-member working group from Khorasan-e-Razavi was chaired by Dr Abbas Niawand while the seven-member joint working group from the Punjab Government side was headed by Chief Executive Officer PBIT, Saadat Muzaffar. During the session all relevant departments of Punjab government showcased their investment opportunities and outlined the status of negotiations of projects to be signed between the two parties.
The participant agreed that under the vision of the Governor of Khorasan-e-Razavi, Dr Mahmoud Salahi and Chief Minister Punjab, Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, potential areas of collaboration between the two counties should move on a fast track mode as trade and investment figures between the two countries are below potential. This potential can be sufficiently utilised by promoting mutual co-operation.
On the occasion, Saadat Muzaffar led a discussion on the positive pro-investment incentives offered by the Government of Punjab and secretaries of livestock, agriculture, and transport departments. Chairman Punjab Power Development Company and Director General PHA presented opportunities for collaboration between the two sides. The meeting was told that in order to steer all departmental collaborations between the two provinces, a MoU would be signed between PBIT and Centre for Investment Services of Khorasan-e-Razavi.
