LCCI to hold Gilgit-Baltistan Investment Week in September

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has decided to hold Gilgit-Baltistan Investment Week in September this year where potential of Gilgit-Baltistan would be highlighted through weeklong exhibition and sector-specific seminars and discussions.
The decision was taken by LCCI President Shahzad Ali Malik in a meeting with Talat Hafeez, head of a nine-member women delegation that returned from seven-day visit to Gilgit-Baltistan.
While talking to delegates, he said that there were no two opinions about it that Gilgit-Baltistan has great potential, and any investment in the area could change the fate of the country, if properly harnessed, and local and foreign investors are invited and offered incentives. He said that LCCI would continue to play its role for promotion of hidden treasures in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Talat told LCCI president that during their stay in Gilgit-Baltistan, the delegation had a number of high profile meetings including meeting with Governor of G-B Karam Ali Shah, Chief Minister Mehdi Shah, Advisor to CM for Tourism, Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Sadia Danish (MLA) and President of G-B Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GBCCI) Javed Hussain.
Besides having meetings with government functionaries and business counterparts, the LCCI businesswomen delegation also visited the Institute of Gem Stone Cutting and Polishing, Carving and Engraving Training and Production Centre in Zulfiqarabad, Gilgit, where the delegates were briefed about various processes of gem making.
Moreover, Sakardu Commissioner also hosted a dinner for LCCI businesswomen delegation and discussed various issues relating to women entrepreneurs development. A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Lahore Chamber and GBCCI to promote business and attract investment in the areas of spices, herbs, gems and jewellery, dry fruits and tourism.
