Implementation Commission: Raza kept in dark about Waseem's inclusion

02 Jun, 2011

The Chairman Implementation Commission on 18th Amendment Mian Raza Rabbani said that he was not taken on board about the inclusion of Waseem Sajjad of PML-Q as member of the Commission.
Raza Rabbani said this while talking to newsmen after the Commission meeting here on Wednesday. He said that the government did not take him into confidence on making Waseem Sajjad as member of the Commission. He said that Implementation Commission would complete the devolution process of the ministries to the provinces by June 30.
Answering a question, Raza said that if the Commission did not complete its work on devolution then according to the Constitution, the ministries themselves would transfer their functions to the provinces after passage of June 30 deadline.
Answering another question, he said that he was ready to resign from chairmanship of the Commission if the party (PPP) wanted to take back the slot from him. "Being chairman of the Commission I am independent to take decisions," he said.
Wednesday's meeting of the Commission was deferred due to lack of quorum and the Commission would meet again today (Thursday) to discuss the devolution process of the ministries.
