Secrecy in survey!

Extraordinary secrecy akin to the budget surrounded the Economic Survey 2010-11, with a few convinced that it was merited. While budgetary proposals are kept secret till its announcement as revelations can impact individual decisions that may lead to defrauding the exchequer, yet the Economic Survey for the first time was jealously guarded by the ministry officials thereby focusing attention on the formal release of the document.
The entry of journalists in the two blocks of the finance ministry was prohibited and the area was declared a 'no go area' for media. At the same time, entry of journalists has also been banned at the FBR for last one month. However, some journalists who were close to the top brass of the finance ministry and the FBR continuously broke stories about the Federal Budget and the Economic Survey and overall perception is that most of the statistics have been leaked to their 'blue-eyed' media persons.
