Rs 39.513 billion allocated for education

The budget 2011-12 has earmarked Rs 39,513 million for education against the revised allocation of Rs 40,324 million for the current year. However, no allocation has been made in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for Education as the Ministry has been devolved to the provinces; however Rs 14 billion was earmarked for Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the budget for 2011-12.
The Education Affairs and Services have been provided with Rs 39,513 million in the budget 2011-12 as compared with Rs 34,500 million in the budget 2010-11. The major chunk of expenditure, ie Rs 29 billion has been allocated for tertiary education affairs and services in 2011-12 against the revised Rs 31,166 million for 2010-11. Out of a total of Rs 39,513 million, Rs 4,148 million has been allocated for pre-primary education affairs services against the revised budget of Rs 3245 million for 2010-11.
Similarly Rs 4893 million has been allocated for secondary education affairs and services against Rs 4425 million revised for 2010-11. For the social welfare and special education division 2011-12 earmarked Rs 54 million against Rs 34 million in 2010-11.
Rs 513 million have been allocated for education affairs services against the revised allocation of Rs 534 for 2010-11; Rs 700 million has been allocated for administration which was Rs 884 million in the revised budget of 2010-11 and Rs 95 million has been allocated for subsidiary services in 2011-12 against Rs 35 million of the revised estimates for 2010-11.
