'Concept of Halal Food growing in Philippines'

Ambassador of Philippines in Pakistan Jesus I. Yabes has said that Pakistan has great natural resources, outstanding economic potential and a good economic team, which is taking the country's economy forward.
Talking to a delegation of FPCCI which comprised Malik Sohail Hussain, Chairman Media, FPCCI, Inayatullah Mirza, former president ICCI, Samina Fazil, President Women's Chamber, Uzma Maqsood and others, the Ambassador said that Pakistan had braved many problems and would soon come out of the prevailing crises including terrorism.
He called upon the business community to explore more possibilities to enhance bilateral trade, which is improving, but is below the actual potential.
Jesus I. Yabes said that further avenues of co-operation could be found between the two countries through enhanced people-to-people contact and interaction between the private sectors.
The Ambassador said that concept of Halal Food is growing in Philippines and Pakistani exporters could benefit from it.
He said Pakistan produces pharmaceuticals of guaranteed quality that can support the low-cost medicine programmes in many countries.
Pakistan is global leader in production of top quality rice, which is in great demand in Philippines, the envoy informed. He agreed to the proposals of Malik Sohail to showcase Pakistani products in Manila, share knowledge as well as expertise with each other and remove trade barriers.
Malik Sohail Hussain informed the envoy that national business leaders Tariq Sayeed, Iftikhar Ali Malik and Ghulam Ali were eager for a meeting of the Joint Economic Commission to boost the two-way trade.
