Tropical cyclone formation in Arabian Sea forecast

07 Jun, 2011

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday forecast tropical cyclone formation in the Arabian Sea. "The latest meteorological data indicates that a well marked low pressure area has developed in Eastern Arabian Sea near western coast of India centered at 19.3 N and 75 E," said a press release issued here.
The current sea surface temperatures (around 30 C) and other meteorological parameters are favourable for the development of a depression (strong weather system) during next 24 hours. PMD's Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre (TCWC) is closely watching the cyclogenesis activities and regular updates the weather system and will issue warning when needed.
