Ulema urged to promote social harmony, tolerance

Minister Auqaf Punjab, Haji Ehsan-ud-din Qureshi has said that Ulema and mashaikh should play an active role in the setting up of a society based on religious harmony, tolerance and social equality. He asked them to spread the teachings of Sufi saints among the masses to create a charitable and tolerant society.
Islam teaches the lesson of peace, harmony and equality among the masses and by following in the footsteps of Sufi saints we should create an atmosphere of amity and tranquillity. He expressed these views after visiting Darbar Baba Bulhay Shah. The minister said that ulema have great respect throughout the world and we have to promote the concept of love, brotherhood and mutual tolerance for the establishment of peace in the world and Sufi saints spread the same message. He said the present government is paying special attention for the protection and renovation of mausoleums of Sufi saints.
