Punjab government withdraws security of Raja Riaz

08 Jun, 2011

Punjab government has withdrawn police security to former Senior Minister Raja Riaz on the pretext that he has relinquished the office of Senior Minister. Raja Riaz, on the other hand, protested against the decision through a letter to the IG Punjab, pretending that he was provided with security after tangible threats to his life.
He has added that Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif would be responsible for any loss to him in the absence of security. It may be noted that Raja Riaz was provided with six security personnel, one driver and a vehicle to protect him as a Senior Minister Punjab. The Punjab government sources said there is no need of security to Raja Riaz now, as he is no more Senior Minister.
