Partly Facetious: Incompetence has emerged in all the institutions?

08 Jun, 2011

"I am amazed at the level of incompetence."
"Why? Incompetence and the government of Pakistan is not a new concept if you know what I mean."
"Agreed, and..."
"And let me add that incompetence has emerged in other institutions of the country as well that are not under the control of the government."
"Agreed, but my point is the scale of incompetence has improved significantly."
"From where I am sitting any improvement is better than the status quo."
"Don't be facetious. I am referring to..."
"I don't care what you are referring to. I am sick and tired of hearing our government scale ever new heights of incompetence."
"But still..."
"No don't want to hear it."
"Please for my sake. Remember I am the one who has never asked you for anything."
"OH OK, then go ahead."
"We saw a bunch of dead bodies in a cloth coffin on television - I can't even say for sure that the coffins had dead bodies - could be rubber replicas of bodies - but anyway these were shown on television and we were told to thank the Good Lord as Ilyas Kashmiri the al Qaeda mastermind who has wrought much destruction on our people was killed in a drone strike."
"I know - and Rehman Malik said he was 98 percent sure that the man was Kashmiri and that he is dead - later he took away the two percent remaining doubt that he had voiced earlier..."
"OK, but Malik is hardly a credible figure."
"We heard a foreign newspaper claiming that the guy was dead before the media in Pakistan picked up and it was only after our media picked up the story that Malik made his claim."
"So Malik knew from the media - what's so surprising about that."
"Nothing but then the Prime Minister confirmed that the US had confirmed his death."
"So?"
"So the US said they could not substantiate that claim."
"Aaaahhhhhh."
"Yep, time to scream."
