Jamaat-e-Islami extends membership drive till June 30

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has extended the membership drive till June 30, following a great response from the people of the province. More than, 7,43,784 people of have become members of the JI in the province, said Shabbir Ahmad Khan while addressing a news conference at the press club, here on Tuesday.
He recalled that JI had launched a masses-contact drive in March against the growing US intervention, lawlessness, price hike, and unemployment in the country. Through different congregations, he added, it created awareness among people about the prevailing situation of the country, he added. He said that the basic focus was to grow membership throughout the province, saying the campaign was carried out in different districts, Union Council, towns, and zonal and rural areas. People showed keen interest to become members, which depicts that they fully support JI's people-friendly agenda, he said.
Shabbir said that keeping in view the masses' interest, JI has decided to extend the membership drive till June 30, as more than 7,43,784 people have become members of the party in the province; 6,66,944 males and 7,68,40 females. He expressed hope that their strength will grow after getting a large number of memberships in the province. He added that this would bring positive changes in the politics of the country.
