Wattoo protests over change in polling staff

25 Jun, 2011

Mian Manzoor Wattoo, Minister for Kashmir Affairs on Friday strongly protested the overnight change in the staff at a polling station in Lahore and termed it a conspiracy by Pakistan Muslim League-N to rig the elections in Azad Kashmir. In a statement, Wattoo said Pakistan Peoples Party and its allies had contacted the AJK Chief Election Commissioner and lodged a strong protest over the change in polling staff.
He said the change was without any intimation and aimed at hampering the holding of a free, fair and transparent voting. He demanded of the CEC that the removed staff be reinstated without any delay so as to foil any attempts of rigging by the PML-N. He said the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs was committed to the holding of free, fair and transparent elections in AJK.
