27 Jun, 2011

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) candidate for LA-37 (Valley 2) polls-2011 Ghulam Mohiyuddin Dewan has alleged that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers committed worst election rigging in his constituency at the behest of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Ghulam Mohiyuddin Dewan, while talking to APP here on Sunday, said that the official machinery was involved in election rigging and some four ballot boxes had been filled prior to the start of polling in polling station No 2 (Government Girls high School Rehmanpura Qila Lacchman Singh).
The PPP candidate from the Lahore seat for the Legislative Assembly General Elections-2011 said that he entered the Qila Lacchman Singh polling station at 08:03 am to cast his vote and was amazed to see that four ballot boxes were already full within three minutes of the start of the polling.
He said that he called up Deputy Election Commissioner AJK at 08:10 and drew his attention to the worst rigging who ensured immediate response to the unlawful activity but no action could be initiated since the PML-N goons had made the polling stations inaccessible for the voters as well as election commission and other officials. Ghulam Mohiyuddin said that even the Deputy Election Commissioner/Returning Officer LA-37 was not allowed access to the polling station Government Chistia High School Krishan Nagar by the PML-N goons.
He alleged that PML-N workers also resorted to violence at several polling stations, forcibly stopped PPP voters from exercising their right to vote and injured PPP workers as well as leaders including PPP General Secretary Samiullah Khan.
Regarding the registration of an FIR against him in police station Qila Lacchman Singh he said that he had enough proofs to expose the riggers and their masters and was ready to face any investigations since he has the backing of the voters.
