Pleasant weather with the mercury plummeting to mere 28 degree celsius on Sunday enticed Lahorites outdoors as great activity was seen in city parks and public places.
Cooped up in their homes due to hot and muggy weather during the past few days in the provincial metropolis, the youths were provided a unique opportunity by nature to break shackles imposed by their families and frolick in the happy-go-merry weather, a rare phenomenon during the Pakistani summers.
With the summer vacation in educational institutions and an off day from work and businesses, the citizens were obliged to spend their leisure among nature and other man-made recreational places including restaurants, the zoo along with the families. Almost all the recreational places were thronged with people of all ages with large number of women, children, making it a festive occasion. Family get-togethers were seen at various city parks including Bagh-e-Jinnah, Model Town Park, Gulshan Iqbal Park, Race Course Park, as well as public points including Fortress Stadium, Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque and Minar-e-Pakistan. Lahore Zoo became the focal point of activity for children who spent their time in watching animals, taking elephant-rides and taking swings. Ali Faizan, 12, while talking to APP at the Bagh-e-Jinnah, said that he is mesmerised to find such a pleasant weather after so many days.
