27 Jun, 2011

Three policemen and two under-investigation persons were injured when a bomb, planted on a motor cycle, exploded. Resultantly, a police post at Gaddafi Chowk and adjacent buildings were damaged. Multan CPO Aamer Zulfikar said, "It would be premature to say whether it was a suicidal attack or the bomb was planted.
However, no fatal casualty occurred as three policemen and two other people were injured. They were removed to hospital." The CPO declined to confirm that it was a suicidal attack. Rescue 1122 spokesman Muhammad Imran said, "Five injured were removed to Nishtar Hoispital Multan where the injured were stated to be out of danger."
An injured Ppliceman, Ahmed, told newsmen that the attacker was a young bearded man. Nishtar Hospital emergency incharge confirmed admission of six persons, including three policemen.
A police officer, Muhammad Yousaf, said that some detained persons attempted to flee from the police post, taking advantage of this situation; but their bid was foiled.
