A special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday awarded a 10-year jail sentence to Balochistan's MPA Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, his son and their two accomplices in a kidnapping for ransom case. Rind, who is the lone opposition lawmaker in Balochistan Assembly, his son Sardar Khan, Din Muhammad and two other persons were facing charges of kidnapping a man, Imam ud Din, in 2009.
A case was registered against them and chalan was presented in the court. The court issued several summons for Sardar Rind and other accused. But they did not appear before the court. On this, the court, in an ex-party ruling, awarded 10-year imprisonment and Rs 50,000 fine for all the four persons. Meanwhile, Din Muhammad, who was also a co-accused, was acquitted after he personally appeared before the court.
