At the time of unveiling his plans regarding SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket, Elon Musk also announced that he would be sending his own Tesla Roadster into space as the rocket’s payload, while David Bowie's ‘Space Oddity’ plays. Well, Musk just revealed the pictures of the vehicle he plans to send to Mars.

Back in April this year, Musk announced that he was thinking of sending the ‘silliest thing we can image’ to space as his Falcon Heavy’s payload. When this news was still doubtful, earlier this month, Musk declared that he would send his midnight cherry Tesla Roadster playing ‘Space Oddity’ into Mars’ orbit. Now, on his Friday’s Instagram post, Musk has even revealed the pictures of his soon-to-be space borne vehicle.

A Red Car for the Red Planet Test flights of new rockets usually contain mass simulators in the form of concrete or steel blocks. That seemed extremely boring. Of course, anything boring is terrible, especially companies, so we decided to send something unusual, something that made us feel. The payload will be an original Tesla Roadster, playing Space Oddity, on a billion year elliptic Mars orbit.

In the post, Musk displayed a series of pictures of his cherry-red Tesla Roadster that is being prepared to be sent into orbit near Mars, which he claims should last a billion years. As the pictures show, the Roadster is attached to a fitting and is placed in between the two halves of the payload fairing that caps the rocket, reported The Verge.

Elon Musk to send his Tesla’s sports car to Mars next month

In his caption, Musk elaborated that sending off usual mass simulators in maiden rocket flights are boring, thus, they planned to do something unusual.

This test flight would be the first one of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket that has been planning for years and is namely the most powerful rocket in the world. This will help the company to send off bigger payloads to space in future.
