Supreme Court clarification

Supreme Court on Saturday clarified a news item appearing in a set of newspapers regarding references against those former judges who had taken oath under the annulled Provisional Constitutional Order of 2007. The Supreme Court said that on directions of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the Registrar Office has sent a letter to the Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice conveying the relevant extract of a six-member Bench's verdict of May 18, 2011.
The order was passed on an intra-court appeals No 3,4,6,8 and 11 of 2011. The Secretary Ministry of Law was requested to bring the factual position to the notice of the Competent Authority. The letter was marked "Confidential" and delivered in a sealed envelope to the Secretary Ministry of Law.
