Installation of 15 megawatts power plant: Chinese team visits Sukkur Barrage

A team of China Water and Electric Corporation (CWEC) has visited Sukkur Barrage in order to install Hydel power project, Business Recorder learnt. A team of CWEC water and electric experts visited Sukkur Barrage and conducted a short survey during the visit, sources told Business Recorder.
Officials of Irrigation and Power departments briefed the team about water availability situation at Sukkur and other barrages of province including Guddu and Kotri. The Chinese experts met with higher authorities of Power department and discussed technicalities of the issue in detail with them. The sources said that the team had showed interest in installing hydel power plant at Sukkur Barage while some other surveys would be conducted by the team in this regard. They said that if the plant was installed it would have a capacity of 10 to 15 MM power generation which could be consumed by the local people and industries.
