Classes at Lyari medical college begin

The classes of the first batch of MBBS at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical College, also known as Layari medical college started on Tuesday. Out of 100 students 90 students attended the first class of Anatomy. Five students remained absent while five other students were not allowed to attend college due to some unknown reasons.
More than 1000 students had applied at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical College, Lyari in the first batch of the MBBS programme but only 100 candidates were selected through National Testing Service (NTS) system, held on 21st March.
The seats at the college were distributed district-wise. The government allocated 15 seats for Lyari Town, 10 Bin Qasim Town and 10 for Keemari Town. Around 33 seats were allocated for Karachi district. Besides, 12 seats for interior Sindh, 10 seats were allocated for self-finance. Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) will take examination of the first batch.
