Former law minister and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Dr Babar Awan on Tuesday said Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) would not be able to fulfil its desire for power through formation of 'Grand Political Alliance'. He expressed these views while talking to mediapersons in the pressroom of the Supreme Court. He said, "PML-N can only make 'GT Road alliance' but not 'Grand Alliance'."
He said the nation is waiting as to when PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan would tender his apology over the statement against MQM leadership, adding that as to when PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif would visit '90' and Shuhada ka Qabrustan, wearing a Sindhi cap.
The former law minister said PML-N had submitted before the court in a local body election case that the government of Punjab cannot hold LB polls. But later on, it informed the court that it cannot hold elections in Rawalpindi.
"Today, PML-N has expressed its inability to hold elections in Lahore on Kashmir seat," Awan said, adding that if a party cannot hold elections in its own province, how can it muster support for the formation of 'Grand Alliance'. Awan said credit goes to PPP as it successfully held elections in Azad Kashmir, adding that PPP would also be able to complete elections in other parts of the valley as per schedule, announced by the AJK Election Commission.
"People know that when PML N talks about mid-term polls, it would be a joke and nothing else," Awan said, adding that a party leader, who fears defeat in the elections, should refrain from talking about mid-term polls. He maintained that PML-N announcement of formation of 'Grand Alliance' in fact contradicted a US survey wherein it was claimed that PML-N has 65 percent support of people in the country.
"If Nawaz Sharif considers himself a big leader, he should fight the battle on his own instead of seeking support of other political forces of the country," Babar Awan said, adding that everyone knows as to how PML-N deceived All Pakistan Democratic Movement (APDM).
He said PML-N leadership tried to make a hat-trick by deceiving political forces, however, this time nobody is ready to embark on the vehicle of 'GT Road Alliance'. Babar said the nation observed July 5 (Tuesday) as Black Day adding that the past 40 years proved that martial law of Zia ul Haq and July 5 were source of destruction for the country as Zia pushed Pakistan into dark era while PPP is determined to bring the country out of morass.
Babar demanded formation of a national commission, which could ensure return of all those national assets, which Zia had distributed among his 'political heirs' through Martial Law Order. These assets had produced new wealthy groups. If the commission succeeded in retrieving those assets from the so-called groups, all the rich people would return to Gawal Mandi, he added.
