Lancashire fined after Pakistan's Junaid Khan error

English cricket county Lancashire have been fined £250 by England and Wales Cricket Board after an admin error meant Pakistan's fast bowler Junaid Khan was unregistered when he made his debut in both LV= County Championship and Friends Life T20 last month.
Although the club had tried to register their new Pakistan left-arm seamer in time, they selected him before registration had been approved by the ECB. "After investigation, it is accepted that Lancashire had attempted to register the player, though had proceeded to select the player without registration being approved and that the player - now registered for that county - was at all relevant times eligible to be registered and play for Lancashire," read an ECB statement.
"The player himself, Junaid Khan, is entirely blameless. Lancashire County Cricket Club apologised for its error, accepted financial penalty and has put in place measures to ensure that such an error is not repeated in the future," statement added.
