MQM to stage protest march today

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) decided to observe Friday (today) as a 'mourning day' to protest against the on-going violence in Karachi. The party has also announced that its lawmakers will stage a protest march from Karachi Press Club to Chief Minister's House on Friday.
This was announced by member Rabita Committee, Raza Haroon in a press briefing to media persons at MQM's headquarters in Azizabad here Thursday. Speaking to the journalists after the end of the meeting of MQM Co-ordination Committee, held simultaneously at London and Karachi, Leader of MQM Raza Haroon said if the situation remained unchanged, his party would be compelled to give strike call.
The session was summoned in the backdrop of relentless bloodshed in the city, particularly in localities of Orangi Town, Gulfamabad, Qasba Colony and the Katti Pahari area, Haroon informed media. Raza Haroon said that MNAs and senators will also protest outside the parliament and senate besides MQM is preparing to call meetings of National Assembly and senate in this regard, he added. He alleged that security forces were not taking action in areas hit by violence and added that the government was punishing the MQM for leaving the coalition.
MQM leader said that his party developing co-ordination with opposition parties so as to devise a comprehensive strategy against the malicious intensions of vested elements. Raza appealed the representatives of media, civil society to visit restive areas of the city to discover the inhuman atrocities being meted out with people of Orangi town, Qasba Colony and others. He asked the political parties to raise voice against the terrorists at their platforms. MQM would not bow down before the terrorists and assured the citizens that they would not leave them alone at mercy of killers, he added.
