FC to be deployed in Karachi: Malik

Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik said that Frontier Constabulary (FC), personnel would also be deployed in Karachi to maintain law and order situation. Talking to media at Jinnah International Airport, he said those FC personnel, who are available in the city, will be ready and deployed by 10 am on July 8, while 1000 more FC men will also reach Karachi in a day or two.
The Federal Interior Minister said he has come to Karachi on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, to look into the situation. He said no operation would be launched in Karachi, only targeted action would be taken against terrorists and miscreants.
Our staff reporter from Islamabad adds: Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik on Thursday ordered Pakistan Rangers and Sindh Police to double the deployment in the metropolis to crush targeted killings and the ongoing violence. Malik took notice of firing incidents in Karachi and directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh and Acting Director General Rangers, Sindh to submit reports on the matter.
The Interior Minister telephoned the IGP Sindh and Acting DG Rangers and directed them to take stern action against people involved in targeted killings. "Sindh Police and Rangers adopt a joint strategy to take steps to control the situation," he added.
