Call for giving attention to slow learners

10 Jul, 2011

Secretary General of NGO-Foundation for Rehabilitation & Education of Special Children (FRESH) Ashba Kamran has urged the parents and teachers to accept the children with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) by recognising their qualities and their good points as well.
She said this while speaking at a parents-teachers training workshop on slow learners held in Lahore. According to her, children with ADD and ADHD need to learn to trust the parent and teacher. Once they have it they would respond amazingly. She said a lot of the ADHD children end up expecting to be told of or criticised and often will not want to tell the truth, as they know from past experience that they would not be believed. Secretary FRESH also mentioned that other children also become very quick to point the finger of blame as they know that the ADHD child is normally held responsible for things that go wrong.
